The farm has a rich 200 year history and currently has livestock and plantations. The flora & fauna specific to this farm has been studied by an internationally recognized team of environmental expects including Ornithologist, Agronomist and Ecologist. Their focus is on safety, sustainability and service.
With regard to safety , their guides carry first aid kits with epiPens and can radio for either CPR assistance or Boat Rescue. Helmets are mandatory for activities like horse rides and bicycling. Life Vests are mandatory for activities like Kayaking and Standup Paddle Boarding. They cater to families with children and have life vests for infants and small children separate from adult life vests. They check all our equipment every day. Each guests fills out a Check-In form so that they can understand any health conditions and allergies in advance.
With regard to sustainability, they are completely off the grid with solar power, well water and septic disposal. They have no motorized activities as part of their excursions i.e. all activities powered by humans, horses, etc. The Chef is well renowned for “natural cooking” i.e. organic cooking with natural herbs. They strive to serve healthy Dominican lunches and food. They have been growing Teak trees which essentially take 25 years to mature for the past decade and you can see the various stages of their growth. There are many fruit trees on the property and they are also growing vegetables and spices.
